Using the e-commerce administration pages, you can manage your products, including their description, price, images, etc.
Those products can be visualized on your dalicms website, including a shopping basket.

Your site visitors will be able to buy your products, including online payment handling thanks to the dalicms integration with ogone

Mollom support

Mollom is an online service that allows content to be checked on spam. It also contains a captcha service to verify that a real person is entering content in case of doubt.

Adding mollom support for dalicms forums, blogs, etc is easy. It is explained in our developer documentation at dalicms.dev.java.net
Once configured, most of the spam will be blocked automatically. The messages that still slip through (where mollom indicated a status of 'unsure') are viewable in an easy moderation list, where they can be approved or deleted.

DaliCMS is a GlassFish incubator project

The DaliCMS software is developed on top of the Java EE 5 specification. As a consequence, it runs on any Application Server that is compliant with the Java EE 5 standard.

For most of the development, the software team uses the Glassfish Application Server. There are a number of reasons for this:

GlassFish is the reference implementation for Java EE 5 and the forthcoming Java EE 6 specification.
GlassFish is Open Source, available under a dual license (CDDLv1.0 and GPLv2)
The GlassFish code is not only freely available, it is clearly written and relatively easy to understand
The future of GlassFish looks bright. The next version of GlassFish, GlassFish v3, consists of a very modular OSGi-based kernel, bundled with a number of containers (e.g. Web-container).
The GlassFish community is open, active and productive

Although DaliCMS will continue to work on any Java EE 5 compliant Application Server, the development will be realized inside the GlassFish incubator area.
The project home for DaliCMS in this incubator area is http://dalicms.dev.java.net.

Being a GlassFish incubator project will also generate opportunities for DaliCMS: there are a number of other projects currently available in the dev.java.net space (where GlassFish's home resides) that might add functionality to DaliCMS and vice versa.
We strongly believe that the eco-system that is currently being created around GlassFish will generate lots of opportunities for developers, webmasters, integrators and users.

We are in the process of moving code to the dalicms.dev.java.net space. Documentation and issue tracking will also be mirrored there.

DaliCMS rebranding

I've seen it happening at a number of website builders: they don't pay too much attention to their own website. This is also the case for the DaliCMS website. We didn't do enough for it. But this is changing. You can already see the new look and feel appearing at some pages.

More documentation will follow. More use cases are expected. Code snippets, video tutorials are being created right now. And we are planning more announcements soon. Stay tuned.

footballfan.be site created with Dali

A while ago, the footballfan.be project had a soft launch. On this website, football fans can read and write about the belgium football competition. The site is much more ambitious than this, however. Footballfan is planning to become the central stage for fanclubs etc. The website for footballfan is based on DaliCMS, and already uses some of the community features that were added in Dali.

More news will be announced on the footballfan.be website itself.

DaliCMS milestone 6 released

On February 29th, 2008 DaliCMS milestone 6 was released.

The major improvements and bugfixes in this milestone include:

* added OpenID support. forum users and blog commenters can now login using their openId.

* implemented AtomPub protocol for managing blogs. (e.g. using third party blog clients like Atomic or Windows Live Writer)

* the exported version of a Page is removed from the site's docroot when a full export is run

* form manager plugin in Internet explorer now works.

* improved performance in the export mechanism

* added support for 'custom fields'. These properties can be pre-defined on category level.
   The pages in that category will then get an extra tab where the custom fields can be entered and modified.

* forum users can edit their registration information and change their password.

* added better support for blogs in the template tags.
   also changed the way a blog is displayed. Each entry now gets a meaningfull url by default

* all new pages that are created will get a 'default' alias based on the title of the page.
   Aliases are used as a part of the filename when the page is exported.

* Admin interface is available in French

* Youtube integration. It is now possible to add a youtube movie with the media plugin like this:
   - browse to the youtube movie you want to include
   - copy the URL that is shown in the address bar of your browser
   - paste that URL in the media plugin
   (in the past, you had to find the url of the flash movie itself, which was much harder)

AtomPub support for blogs

The Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub) is an application-level protocol for publishing and editing Web resources. The protocol is based on HTTP transfer of Atom-formatted representations.

DaliCMS now implements this protocol for blog feeds. Support for other feed types might be added in the future.
In practice, this means that atompub enabled clients can now be used to post blog entries to your dalicms-powered blog. Examples of AtomPub clients:

First configure your account. Enter the url of your blog and your username/password.

The other settings will be automatically discovered thanks to the service document.

Afterwards, a list of blog entries can be retrieved.

Improved performance for export

Dalicms build 32 includes a big performance improvement in the export mechanism.

The export mechanism makes it possible to serve static content in normal html files. (instead of making database calls for every page).

Although it speeds up the website a lot for the site visitors, it could slow down the administration interface in certain cases. Build 32 now includes a fix so the export mechanism runs much smoother and faster without slowing down the admin interface itself.

DaliCMS and the User in 2008

DaliCMS claims to be a "Web 2.0 ready Content Management System".
One of the important consequences of this statement is that DaliCMS should allow website builders to focus more on their users, and the interactions between the users and the website.

In 2008, DaliCMS will pay more attention to the concept "User". At this moment, DaliCMS is already being used by projects where users can register themselves, view protected information, discuss topics on forums etc.

User generated content and interoperability are two important aspects that will lead to more DaliCMS improvements in the next year. Stay tuned.

For the fifth time in a row, Flanders Expo organizes Kokerello. This years theme is the "Big city". Read everything about it on the website http://www.kokerello.be . Flanders Expo is using DaliCMS for the creation of the website. Apart from the program and general information, users can browse through a list of exhibitors that will be present on the fair. The website is available in Dutch and French.

DaliCMS Milestone M4 released

On November 27th, 2007 DaliCMS milestone 4 was released.

New features and bugfixes in this milestone include:

integration of the new mollom spam checker API in the forum
email notification for new forum messages
tinymce editor for new forum messages
RSS admin tool to manage all rss feeds that are included on your pages
Support for multiple calendars in the Event Manager
Support for LDAP authentication
Added tinymce contextmenu by default with support for images. Images can now be right-clicked to change their properties
Categories in the company/association manager are available in a dropdown box.
Overall performance of the dynamic site is drastically improved. (although most dalicms already used the exported static site)
multi-day events are now correctly visualized in the calendar
page aliases have become multi-lingual. this means there is no need anymore for a _language suffix in the aliases!
improved admin user interface to make it more clear when a page is 'archived'

CollectValue launched

The CollectValue website is a place for collectors. The interactive project allows collectors to expose their collections, and others can browse through the virtual exhibitions.

All exhibitions belong to one or more categories, and lots of detailed information is available on the website.

VERA kiest voor DaliCMS

VERA, het autonoom provinciebedrijf van Vlaams Brabant, selecteerde DALI CMS als haar oplossing voor web content management voor de lokale besturen. De beslissing werd vooral genomen op basis van het feit dat DALI CMS een volwaardig WEB 2.0 systeem levert met integratie van o.a. Goolge Maps, RSS, Picasa, Flicr en tal van andere interactieve componenten. Hiermee opent VERA de poort voor lokale besturen om van hun huidige website - die vooral publicatie gericht was - een platform te maken voor wederzijdse communicatie met de burgers.

Naast de standaard integratie van deze WEB 2.0 componenten leverde Lodgon een plugin voor het publiceren van de kalenders uit VERA's mail en agenda systeem, steunend op Sun Java Enterise System.

" De publicatie van kalenders vormt de basis van een eenvoudige evenementen module die beheerd wordt vanuit de vertrouwde kalenderomgeving van onze gebuikers. Dankzij de connectie tussen outlook, JES en DALI CMS kunnen de besturen nu rechtstreeks vanuit MS outlook de beschikbaarheid van zalen of apparatuur en de aankondiging van evenementen op de website zichtbaar maken. Dit maakt het onderhoud van deze website bijzonder eenvoudig en voorkomt misverstanden. " De DALI CMS module en de JES integratie zou eenvoudig uitgebreid kunnen worden met de mogelijkheid tot een online reservatie formulier"

Een ander belangrijke realisatie is de integratie van de* E-id* met DALI CMS formuliereneditor. Deze integratie is een belangrijke stap naar de ontwikkeling van een eenvoudig en betaalbaar e-loket waarbij de besturen zelf in staat zijn de formulieren aan te maken en de resultaten te beheren. DALI CMS kan zich terecht het eerste CMS noemen waarbij de e-id integraal deel uitmaakt van haar oplossingen en onderscheidt zich hierdoor van de meeste andere open source applicaties op de markt.

Een laatste argument voor de selectie werd gevonden in de koppeling tussen DALI CMS en het Document beheerssysteem van Alfresco.
In een proof of concept werd aangetoond hoe flexible DALI CMS wel is voor het aanspreken van externe systemen (zoals ALfresco), en welke mogelijkheden dit allemaal te bieden heeft.

Momenteel legt VERA de hand aan de laatste migraties uit haar vorig CMS systeem naar DALI CMS.
